In the short 48 or so hours since its release The Irish Blessing has met with a response that has been overwhelming. Already there are 290k+ views, and a quick glance at some of the comments from places such as, Uganda, Argentina, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, USA and Australia, to name just a few, gives some idea of how this blessing has touched the hearts of many at this time.
Media outlets across the island of Ireland, including the two main broadcasters, RTE and the BBC, have taken up the story of The Irish Blessing and the intention behind it; a blessing of protection and gratitude for all our frontline workers.
Each person on the team had a strong sense that the Holy Spirit was guiding and directing this endeavour from the beginning and will continue to do so. Somehow, a team of people, many of whom have never met in person, was gathered together, prayer underpinning all we were doing. The same Holy Spirit nudged and directed all those who contributed, to take part, hundreds of them, offering their gifts and talents, in praise of Jesus and prayer for neighbour. Somehow, in an insanely short time-frame, The Irish Blessing was born. Thank you to all those who have watched and shared and prayed this blessing for a facility or organisation in your area. Please continue to do so.
In the spirit of Pentecost, The Irish Blessing is an invitation to each of us to fix our gaze on Christ at all times, even in the midst of the storms around us and to, “put on, Christ,” our Saviour as an armour of protection. May this armour of protection be around all the key-workers in the storm of the pandemic.
